Staff Training Day:

Strengthening Our Approach to Risk & Positive Behaviour Support

This week, our team came together for a focused training day dedicated to enhancing our practice around risk, risk assessment, and positive behaviour management within our residential Ofsted home.

Supporting young people with complex behavioural needs requires skill, consistency, and confidence. The session provided staff with practical tools and refreshed knowledge to continue creating a safe, structured, and nurturing environment.

During the training, we explored:

  • Understanding and evaluating risk — recognising both immediate and emerging risks, and learning how to respond proportionately.

  • Developing dynamic risk assessments — ensuring our assessments stay relevant, child-centred, and reflective of each young person’s changing needs.

  • Positive behaviour management strategies — focusing on de-escalation, relationship-based practice, and proactive approaches that promote safety, trust, and emotional wellbeing.

  • Team communication and consistency — reinforcing how shared understanding and clear communication lead to better outcomes for the children in our care.

We are proud of the team’s engagement and commitment throughout the day. Investing in continuous development ensures we maintain the highest standards of care and provide a positive, safe, and empowering environment for every young person who lives with us.

Thank you to all staff for your dedication and for contributing to a productive and inspiring training day.
