Oakfield Solo Home Achieves Praise from Ofsted

We are delighted to share the positive outcome of a recent Ofsted inspection at one of our Solo Therapeutic Homes.

The service has been awarded a GOOD rating across all areas, a testament to the dedication of our team and the strength of our therapeutic model.

Ofsted praised the way our carefully designed environment and trauma-informed approach enable young people with complex needs to achieve measurable emotional progress and develop essential independent living skills.

Highlights from the Ofsted report include:

“The child is vulnerable and has complex needs, so requires a lot of support.”
“Staff confidently manage complex and challenging situations and take appropriate action to keep the child safe.”
“Keeping the child safe is a priority and is integral to daily staff practice.”
“Staff support the child to understand risk-taking behaviour. Through this support, the number of incidents is reducing.”
“Staff are child-centred, enthusiastic, and dedicated, with a good understanding of the child’s needs.”

This recognition reflects our unwavering commitment to trauma-informed, person-centred care — delivered in therapeutic environments that prioritise stability, safety, and progress.

As Ofsted’s National Director for Social Care, Yvette Stanley, recently highlighted:

“We currently have over 3,000 registered children’s homes. But… there remains a need for specialist homes that can provide high-quality care for children with multiple and complex needs... We do not necessarily need more children’s homes; we need the right homes...”

At Oakfield, we are proud to be delivering exactly that — the right homes, with the right model, for some of the most vulnerable young people in our communities.
