Nurse-Led Medication Training Day
Investing in Our Team, Investing in Our Young People.
Our Nurse-Led Medication Training Day is designed to equip staff with the knowledge, confidence, and practical skills needed to safely support young people with their medication.
Delivered by experienced nurses, this interactive training session covers every stage of the medication process — from understanding what is being given, to recording it accurately, to recognising when something isn’t quite right.
Throughout the day, participants will explore:
-
Regular Medication & Common Uses Understanding routine medicines, why they are prescribed, and how they support the wellbeing of young people.
-
Record Keeping & Documentation Best practice for completing MAR charts, logging refusals, and ensuring clear, compliant documentation.
-
Liquid Medication & Practical Administration Hands-on guidance around measuring, preparing, and safely administering liquid medications.
-
Safe Administration Principles The ‘six rights’ of medication, avoiding errors, checking labels, and maintaining a calm, controlled process.
-
Escalation & When to Seek Help How to identify concerns, side effects, or errors — and the correct steps to escalate to clinical support.
-
Overall Medication Safety Creating a safe culture around medication, promoting young people’s involvement, and reducing risk.
This training is ideal for anyone working directly with young people who require medication support. By the end of the session, attendees will feel more confident, competent, and prepared to ensure medications are handled safely, respectfully, and in line with clinical guidance.
