Working within the NHS

Oakfield supports children and young people to manage the emotional demands of living with diabetes.

We help them develop resilience, understand the feelings that come with daily management, and build coping tools for treatment fatigue, frustration, confidence issues or diabetes-related worries. Our sessions focus on practical regulation strategies, motivation support and building self-esteem around long-term condition management.

We work directly within diabetes clinics and maintain strong coordination with specialist nurses and consultants to ensure emotional wellbeing sits alongside physical health care.

Service feedback:

“The system works well, and we are informed of outcomes. At the monthly meetings the information is reciprocal and helpful.”

“The involvement of the MDT means that we are all aware of how to support the CYP and family moving forward.”

“The service provided is the best it has ever been. The changes made after listening to what the staff here needed has really helped us.”
