Paediatrics

Oakfield represent the psychology provision, inclusive of emotional health and well-being services, across general paediatric health. This work involves taking on a range of referrals for complex disorders and difficulties. Oakfield provide support by working with children and young people who engage in self harm, suffer from adjustment disorders, phobias, panic disorders, tic based disorders and eating disorders.

Diabetes

Oakfield represent the emotional health and well-being provision for the diabetes service in line with best practice across three NHS trust sites. As part of this work we provide screening and assessment of psychological needs for children, adolescents young people and families. We then deliver highly specialist psychological interventions and therapy drawing from a range of models to deliver holistic care. Our role includes providing psychological support, screening and delivering one to one work, family sessions and groups sessions to our patients.

Oncology

Oakfield provide intensive psychological support and intervention to children and young people having treatment for cancer. The service provides a great deal of family work and intervention often involving home visits and multi-agency work to provide holistic packages of care to families coping with severe illness and treatment. Oakfield focus on coping with the psychological demands, stress and trauma of enduring such a life changing Illness. We work alongside a community nursing team and consultants to provide the best possible care and support for those we work with.

Gastroenterology

Oakfield provide the psychological service for Gastroenterology patients and their families. This involves family therapy and one to one interventions tailored to each patient’s needs. The clinical work often involves managing adjustment difficulties, anxiety, low mood and loss. We work alongside the medical team to provide support, education and assessment.

Looked After Children

Oakfield review Looked after children across a wide range of clinical disciplines. Looked after Children represent a population of patients whereby psychological presentations and conditions are unfortunately at a much greater incidence than the surrounding population.
Consequently it is incredibly important that these individuals have ample support and access to specialist psychological provision. We are very proud to represent this across a number of NHS trusts and local authorities.

Podiatry

Oakfield’s service works alongside other specialist teams such as surgeons, nurses and podiatrists working with complications such as amputations, surgical intervention, adjustment and pain management. Oakfield provide assessment, intervention and support for the psychological difficulties of living with a chronic health condition, particularly those in distress when experiencing serious, life changing complications and symptoms. We often work with family members, spouses and partners as the condition has an impact on the family and support systems around each individual.
